Technology and Your Home - Making It All Blend InNo living room will ever be complete without a television set at the center of all the attention, unless you’re living in the Ice age and you happen to be a Neanderthal. But even if all those billboard ads say it’s a thing of beauty, a TV will always be simply a TV, despite the fact that they're getting thinner every year. If you don’t want your flat screen to hoard the spotlight, how about covering it up in those stylish yet ultra expensive armoires that can often be custom-made according to your own preference? Are you on a fixed budget? Fabrics can be great alternatives too! Using a pole or a simple clothesline and a fabric that blends with the theme of the room, you can easily hide this flat-screen nuisance when your favorite show isn’t on air.Albeit not taking up lots of space, telephones are also one of those gadgets that tend to ruin the scene. Most homes can’t really do with only one phone, especially if there are four to five members who would their own bedroom access as well. To solve this dilemma, cut down on the number by having one or two cordless phones so that you can make calls in any part of the house. Get an extra phone which has a cord just in case power interruptions occur in your area. Since most phones come in different shapes, sizes and colors, you may find one that matches well with the atmosphere of your space. If that isn’t the case, then black and grey phones are the safest possible options since they blend easily with any theme in a home.As with television sets, stereos also dampen the mood in a room since they grab attention even if they’re not blasting sound! They can occupy space that would have been roomy enough for other décor items. Covering them up will probably prove to be more challenging compared to your TV set. Having teens in your home only adds to this problem since they always want some sort of noise (yes, they insist that it’s called music) in the house. To solve this problem, there are stereo racks that can house your music but these tend to cost a lot. Armoires aren’t any cheaper either. Rather than ruin your budget plan, buy screens instead. With screens, you can have the option of keeping them plain or decorating them with pictures. In fact, old picture frames can actually be put together to form a screen that will make for a perfect cover up piece! Instead of showcasing that bulky sound machine, display your creative side!Even though we enjoy the luxuries of technology there’s no reason why we should let it dominate our private living space. Learn to incorporate a few of the tips I mentioned the next time you get that sudden Flintstone fever and you just have to get rid of all things too techy!
